The Humanist Association of Northern Ireland was established in 2005. Previously, it functioned under the name of the Ulster Humanist Association.
Humanists believe in the good within people – that we can be good without God – and in the individual's right to freedom of choice in all the decisions between birth and death.
A fundamental attitude of humanism is that people should show respect to others irrespective of class, creed or race.
Humanists are characterised by empathy, tolerance and respect towards all other people.
